CHDC wins $456,000 in grants from NeighborWorks America

This major support will boost CHDC’s efforts across the board: preventing foreclosures; turning foreclosed properties back into owner occupied homes; counseling first time buyers before they purchase; empowering people with low incomes to get financially fit and access resources so they can buy a home; creating better quality rental opportunities; and protecting consumers from predatory lending and foreclosure rescue scams.  As a chartered member of the NeighborWorks Network, CHDC receives annual financial support and technical assistance from NeighborWorks America, which works through its 230+ members to serve over 4,400 communities across the United States.

Wells Fargo Volunteers Help Ready Home for New Owners

Saturday, Feb. 6, North Richmond – Seven employees of Wells Fargo Bank, alongside CHDC staff, converged on a North Richmond home with brushes, rollers and paint to prepare the home for new owners under the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program. CHDC purchased the home out of foreclosure and will sell it this spring to a family who is buying their first home and has a low or moderate income. By the end of the day the entire interior was sparkling with a fresh coat of white paint! We thank the volunteers for their time and effort helping rebuild this home and neighborhood, and look forward to more such projects in the future!
