Financial Fitness Program

Overview

CHDC offers Financial Fitness education classes in both English and Spanish with the goal that individuals and families with low incomes will take control of their money, set and achieve personal goals, and increase their financial security. These skills are rarely taught in formal educational settings but can make the difference between long term insecurity and genuine, step-by-step financial advancement. The training includes: budgeting, money management, consumer rights, banking, investing, credit, predatory lending, saving, debt management and the Earned Income Tax Credit. These topics are presented in 5 weekly workshops totaling 10 hours of instruction over a 5 week period.

Everyone is welcome to enroll in this class regardless of income or where you live. The class is a prerequisite for CHDC's matched savings account program entitled CC-MATCH. To be eligible for CC-MATCH, you must live in Contra Costa County, have a low income and meet other requirements that are shown on the CC-MATCH page.
