North Point was CHDC's first subdivision. It improved a large empty lot that suffered from illegal dumping, whose impact was especially visible because the lot cut through a full city block, fronted on two residential streets, and also faced a major local park. CHDC built 8 new homes, 4 on Alamo Ave. and 4 on Duboce Ave., using manufactured housing technology. The homes were all sold to first time buyers whose incomes were below 80% of the area median. The City of Richmond, State of California, and Local Initiative Support Corporation all supported the project.
